Overbey, Hawkins & Wright has a rich history dating back to 1930 when R.I. Overbey began practicing law in Rustburg and 1931 when W. Hutchings “Hutch” Overbey, Sr. joined him.  “Hutch” Overbey was Judge of the Campbell County Court for many years at a time when judges also practiced law.   The firm was known as Overbey & Overbey. Later joined by his son, W. Hutchings “Buzzy” Overbey, Jr., the firm was recognized as one of the prominent law firms in the greater Lynchburg area as our attorneys fought zealously for our clients.

After David Hawkins joined the firm in 1972 and later became partner, the firm became known as Overbey, Overbey & Hawkins. W. Hutchings Overbey, Sr. retired from the Circuit Court bench for Campbell County and Bryan Selz joined the firm.  The firm became known as Overbey, Hawkins & Selz.  Shortly thereafter, Frank A. Wright, Jr. joined the firm after graduating with honors from Harvard University and the University Of Virginia School Of Law. Kristin Button Wright also joined the firm and practiced primarily out of Brookneal.

During these years, the firm grew and developed a reputation for competent, diligent, and zealous representation of our clients and it is this reputation that our attorneys strive to fulfill.
